Orlando Pirates will resume action this coming weekend in the CAF Confederation Cup in the hope of progressing to the group stages of the tournament, and Eric Tinkler is the right man to ensure the duty is done.
The former Bidvest Wits man was assistant to Roger De Sa when the Sea Robbers made it through to the final of the 2013 CAF Champions League.
His presence in the technical team played a crucial part in helping the Buccaneers make it all the way through to the final, as the Sowetan Giants came within a whisker of writing history.
Tinkler was present from the very beginning to the end of that run in Africa and he knows full well what needs to be done in leading his current squad all the way to the Confed final.
The expertise, knowledge and the motivation gained from the 2013 campaign will undoubtedly play an instrumental role in him instilling that same spirit into this current squad.
He knows how taxing the traveling can be and the challenges that lie ahead when it comes to playing away from home. Tinkler is also fully aware of the different style of play that is implemented across the continent.
This will certainly bode well for the Sea Robbers as they look to book their ticket into the next round of the tournament.
Ghosts, do you think Tinkler can repeat the success of 2013 and go even further?
