I’m sure many Orlando Pirates fans, if not all local football loving fans, are delighted at the fact that striker Lehlohonolo Majoro was selected for the latest Bafana Bafana squad. In terms of players on form, Majoro definitely ticked all the right boxes.
Majoro is one of the league’s in-form strikers, and in a time where goals from South African strikers are rare, his form will no doubt please the national team coach.
I also feel that coach Shakes Mashaba had little to no choice with regards to selecting Majoro, because if he didn't, he would have faced a backlash from the fans as to why the best striker in the league was not selected.
It would have been nice to have seen both Majoro and Kermit Erasmus in the national team as at club level, the duo has been in fine form all season long.
Major will also grab the opportunity with both hands as it has been a goal for him to make it back into the national team this year. Shakes was heavily criticised in the past for selecting players who may not have been at their very best at the time, but he seems to have turned things around now.
There is not much more Majoro could do to prove that he deserved a call-up and I have no doubt that if he is given the opportunity to play, he will score goals for Bafana.
Do you feel this is one of Shakes best decisions yet?
