There is news floating about that that Kaizer Chiefs, Mamelodi Sundowns and Dutch giants Ajax Amsterdam could battle it out for the signature of talented Ajax Cape Town defender Rivaldo Coetzee.
With him only being 18 years old, the temptation may be there to spend one last spell in the country and gain more experience domestically before jetting abroad.
A chance at such a young age to move abroad does not come around that often and the Fan Park Crew will now highlight three reasons why Coetzee should move straight abroad, instead of joining Downs or Amakhosi first.
Chiefs Have Seasoned Centre-backs
Yes the future of Chiefs centre-backs Tefu Mashamaite and Eric Mathoho may be uncertain at the moment, but the chances of Coetzee breaking into the team would be very slim should the pair commit to the club. Also, Coetzee may be less influential at a club like Chiefs because of his inexperience at the top local level.
Will He Get Game Time At Downs?
This will always be a question when joining Sundowns, and for a youngster moving to Chloorkop could make or break his career. So then, in terms of development, signing for Downs may not be the smartest moves - especially as there are so many players in almost every position.
Amsterdam Will Bring The Best Out Of Him
Why not go straight to the top? He impressed when undergoing trials with Ajax Amsterdam last year and in terms of development, this could be the best choice for him. He would also be fine-tuned abroad, with Ajax boasting an impressive record of grooming future stars.
Coetzee is one lucky player, wanted by two of South Africa’s most ambitious clubs as well as one of the biggest clubs in world football.
Do you agree that Coetzee should go straight to the top?
