Daniel Bennett hogged the limelight for poor officiating as Kaizer Chiefs were knocked out of the Nedbank Cup with a 2-1 loss to Black Leopards.
Chiefs coach, Stuart Baxter was controversially sent off for a clear penalty where Mandla Masango was brought down in the penalty box.
Morgan Shivambu scored the first goal for Leopards while Katsande equalised for Chiefs before Roggert Nyundu’s 90th minute goal saw Chiefs dumped out of the Cup.
The three that impressed:
Reyaad Pieterse: He is the third choice goalkeeper at Chiefs, but he also showed his importance to the club making importance saves to make sure Amakhosi do not lose by a bad score against the first division side.
Willard Katsande: the midfield work horse showed why he is among Chiefs best players and gave a satisfying performance against Leopards despite the loss.
Siphiwe Tshabalala: he came on in the second half and was very lively, also providing a corner kick that was scored by Katsande.
The three that disappointed.
Morgan Gould : with his experience as the main man for Chiefs in defence, he failed to do his defending as expect and should have led by example in the absence of Tefu Mashamaite at the back for Amakhosi.
Ovidy Karuru: the Zimbabwean came with a lot of expectations since coming to Chiefs and he has failed to live up to expectation as he gave another disappointing performance before he made way for George Lebese in 57th minute.
David Zulu: the forward continues to struggle to find his form that made him one of the top strikers while he was still at Chippa United. He made way for Siphiwe Tshabalala in the second half in the second half due to his poor performance.
DANIEL BENNETT: Sorry Mr Ref, this was a performance worth mentioning again. You and your sidekicks got the first goal wrong, you didn’t give a penalty, and then had the audacity to send the coach off for stating the TRUTH. There were other decisions too, and not just for the Amakhosi, a few against Leopards were just not good either! Do not add this game to your highlight reel if you want FIFA to call on you again.
