The Soweto Derby is, without a doubt, the biggest fixture in South Africa, and it was recently recognised by one of Spain's biggest football publications!
Fans all over the world love seeing their teams pick up victories, but there is always more incentive when that victory is against their club's biggest rivals.
We recently saw FC Barcelona beat Real Madrid in an entertaining El Clasico, which might've been the inspiration for Spanish publication AS to produce a gallery on some of the world's biggest football derbies.
Surprisingly, the Clasico did not make the picture gallery, but two images of the Soweto Derby made the list, with the publication saying: "Orlando Pirates v Kaizer Chiefs. Also known as the 'Soweto Derby', one of the few games in the South African league that can attract crowds of six figures."
The derby between Fenerbahce and Galatasaray in Turkey was also named in the list, as was the rivalry between Al Ahly and Zamalek.
Are you happy to see the Soweto Derby getting international recognition?
