A former Kaizer Chiefs player has given his thoughts on why he believes Sibongiseni Mthethwa does not seem to be in the plans of head coach Nasreddine Nabi, but has advised the club against rushing to let go of him.

Mthethwa, who was signed last season from Stellenbosch FC, is yet to make an appearance for the Soweto giants and indications are that he could make a move once the January transfer window opens.

Amakhosi have been using the likes of Yusuf Maart, Samkelo Zwane and Edson Castillo, who is now injured, in the middle of the park, leaving Mthethwa out in the cold in the first few months of the 2024/25 campaign.

It's understood that there would be no shortage of interest should Chiefs open the door for him to make an exit, but former Amakhosi defender Mokete Tsotetsi feels that Mthethwa has quality to make an impact, though the only problem could be that he does not fit into the style of play of Nabi.

"Ox is one of the quality players and Chiefs really need a holding midfielder. Since Ox is not in the plans of the coach and I've heard that he might leave in January, I still feel like Chiefs needs a holding midfielder and they need someone like him," Tsotetsi said to the Siya crew.

"You find that maybe he may not fit into the playing style of the coach, but I still think he is one of the quality players and he can bring that aggression. Chiefs need someone like him, but we will have to wait and see."
