Bafana Bafana’s 2015 Africa Cup of Nations campaign was a tournament to forget, but as a silver lining perhaps, we could look at Kaizer Chiefs winger Mandla Masango’s wonder striker against Ghana in the group stage - as it was the only real highlight of our tournament.
In this week’s edition of Soccer Laduma, issue 910, the mercurial winger explained to Soccer Laduma what went through his mind leading up to the goal and how he felt upon executing the strike.
“As the ball was coming to me, I looked at the keeper and saw he was off his line. By the time he tried to get back, it was already too late. It was a goal. I wish I could have scored that goal and that we’d gone on to win the game, but I was still happy to have scored,” Bullet said.
The following day saw Masango’s goal made waves all the way in Spain, as it drew comparisons to James Rodriguez venomous volley for Colombia against Uruguay in the 2014 FIFA World Cup last year.
It was this kind of promise which caught the eye of overseas-based scouts who were at the game to monitor Bullets’ progress.
With that said, do you think Masango can continue to score such wonderful goals for Chiefs this season?
