Kaizer Chiefs has always been associated with the best talents in the country. Along with that comes big money and in turn big egos. At the centre of it all is man who has to manage all these characters and coach Stuart Baxter does a great job at that.
However, looking at the current state of the team… can it be said that he may not be managing certain players correctly?
For the large part of the season, Baxter has used a constant starting XI. Names like Reneilwe Letsholonyane, Siphiwe Tshabalala, Bernard Parker and Tsepo Masilela have all received the nod whenever available.
Yes, as talented and experienced they are… I feel that with the bulk of these players are heading into their 30s, they could do with a rest more often.
The club had made a host of signings at the beginning of the season and these players would have no doubt felt they could add value to the team. Instead, players like Ovidy Karuru and Levy Mokgothu are yet to taste first team action.
At the end of the day, it can’t be seen as an ideal situation because the team is hardly being rotated. Players who are constantly in the team can get tired because of having to deal with a strenuous fixture list, while fresher players continue to wait on the fringes for an opportunity to play.
This also can contribute to the harmony and unity of the team and in all honesty… our on field chemistry has not been too good in recent times.
Can it be said that Baxter’s man managing skills are affecting the team negatively at the moment?
