To discount any opponent at this stage of the season, while even being at the top of the Absa Premiership, would be a huge mistake. We as Kaizer Chiefs know what it takes to win the league, but on the other hand, we know how quickly it can be lost.
Title contenders Bidvest Wits beat defending league champions Mamelodi Sundowns 1-0 last night in the Absa Premiership in what was a crucial clash for both teams. Wits are now seven points behind us, having played one more game than the rest of the league.
Downs remain 10 points behind us, however, we have the opportunity to extend that gap to 13 points - provided we beat Ajax Cape Town tonight.
Anything can happen at this stage and every single point counts. Let’s not forget that we still have to play both Downs and Wits in the remaining list of league fixtures.
Also, we have to remember that the Soweto Derby is on the horizon and we know losing to Orlando Pirates could hurt our lead, and of course, our pride.
Let’s not forget the fact that we have CAF Champions League duties to take care of too, which can impact our domestic targets.
We need to remain vigilant and cannot be oblivious to the fact that an upset can happen at any given moment.
Keep calm Khosi, keep calm… it’s not over yet.
