1. Youth International – Dortley's potential was recognised early as he represented various junior national teams and participated in the 2024 Olympic qualifiers. His international experience was further enriched by his participation in the recent Cosafa Cup with Bafana Bafana, where he made a memorable impact by scoring in the opening match against Mozambique. This exposure at international level has undoubtedly enhanced his play and visibility.

2. No Trophies – While Dortley has enjoyed ample playing time over the past three seasons, his career, still in its infancy, has not yet seen the addition of any silverware. The lack of trophies does not diminish his contributions on the field but highlights a thirst for future achievements that Kaizer Chiefs could help fulfill.

3. Leadership – One of Dortley's standout qualities is his leadership capability, a trait not commonly found in players of his age. He has occasionally donned the captain's armband for both his club and national youth teams, demonstrating his ability to lead and inspire his teammates. This leadership is complemented by his strong presence on the field and his strategic understanding of the game.

4. Versatility – Dortley's ability to adapt to various positions on the field makes him an invaluable asset to any team. Originally a centre-back, he has been deployed as a wing-back and even in midfield roles under the guidance of Spurs coach Ernst Middendorp. His flexibility allows him to fill multiple roles depending on team needs, which is something that coach Nabi and Amakhosi are likely to leverage to their advantage.

5. The Price of Talent – Securing top talent comes at a premium, especially for famous clubs like Amakhosi. It's understood that Chiefs invested a substantial amount to secure Dortley's services. This acquisition marks the culmination of their long-standing interest in Dortley, tracing back to his days in the Motsepe Foundation Championship with the Urban Warriors. The financial commitment underscores the club's belief in Dortley's ability to significantly contribute to their squad, reflecting their strategy of investing in proven talent to win trophies again. Siya sources have indicated that Chiefs are understood to have paid in upwards of R6 million for the Cape Town starlet.

As Chiefs continue to build a team capable of competing at the highest levels, players like Dortley will be central to their revival strategy. His blend of youth, international experience, leadership, and versatility makes him a player to watch in the upcoming season, as the club aims to navigate its way back to the top of South African football.
