Somizi: I Cried When Kaizer Chiefs Lost

These days, he is living the dream, but Mzansi pop culture icon Somizi Mhlongo remembers a time he found himself weeping for his beloved Kaizer Chiefs.

Somizi is known for his dramatic hairstyles, larger than life character and being outspoken. However, the Idols SA judge also has a penchant for football, more especially his affinity for Kaizer Chiefs.

In the latest episode of The Big Interview, brought to you by DStv Compact, the acclaimed choreographer and reality television star reveals how he was once reduced to tears by Amakhosi.

"I hated attending matches and being around crowds, I always knew I was a star- I don't know where that came from. I was a huge fan of and I still am, with all their ups and downs Kaizer Chiefs. Because my dad was and I've always liked the colours yellow and gold. So soccer was a huge thing in our home."

"My sisters were Orlando Pirates fans while my parents and I were with Chiefs. If Chiefs won, it was a happy day, when they lose it was a sad day. I even cried at some point when Chiefs lost," he said.

In the full interview, Mhlongo also spills the beans on the demands of choreographing the opening and closing ceremonies of the 2010 FIFA World Cup. While also revealing a few items he would still like to tick off his bucket list.
