Yesterday, Barcelona midfielder, Xavi, said that Cristiano Ronaldo is not even comparable to Lionel Messi.
"There is no comparison (to Ronaldo) in my view; he's the world number one and by a margin," the 34-year-old said.
Now, with all due respect to Lionel Messi, who is a great footballer, no doubt, Xavi must have lost his marbles…
Perhaps he's failed to notice that Ronaldo is the current holder of the Ballon D'Or. Messi may have won it four times, but Ronaldo was breathing down the diminutive Argentine's neck all the time and was arguably better than him in some of those years, but lost out because of his negative image.
Ronaldo has won everything at club level just like Messi, and since 2009, he's scored more goals, with 206 goals, compared to Messi's 200. Messi has got 67 assists in that time compared to Cristiano's 52, but Messi has a more creative role at Barcelona…
Ronaldo is also known to carry his team. If Real Madrid play badly, Ronaldo still gets his name on the score sheet, regardless. Meanwhile, when Barcelona have a bad game, Messi goes missing.
I have no intentions of discrediting Messi, because he's a great player and can single-handedly change a game. From an objective perspective, you could say he's the better player. But as of right now, Ronaldo is the best, and to say that Messi is better by a margin is just madness. Both are undisputedly the best and arguing that one is significantly better than the other is just biased.
