The story
Stellenbosch FC full-back Fawaaz Basadien was spotted behind the wheel of a dazzling white Volkswagen ride.
The 27-year-old, who has been one of Steve Barker's standout stars this season, seems to have upgraded his ride with a very popular VW stunner.
Basadien was posted on his teammate, Kyle Jurgens' Instagram story — where the latter was seemingly complimenting him for copping a swanky new whip.
The car Basadien was seen in appears to be a VW Golf 7 R, the 2019 model. The car holds a value of just over R750k, with Auto Trader giving it a R639 990 retail value.
According to caranddriver.com, The all-wheel-drive Golf R comes with "a turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-four—making 288 horsepower and 280 lb-ft of torque—mated to either a six-speed manual or a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission."
The ride also boasts an aesthetically pleasing but functional interior, with "excellent fit and finish, attractive materials, and tastefully upscale accents," as per caranddriver.com.
Basadien will have no problem with getting around Stellies in a hurry with this ride, as it boasts a maximum/top speed of 250km/h and accelerates from 0-100 km/h in less than five seconds.
