The story
Kermit Erasmus made his PSL breakthrough at just 17 years old, and 17 years later, he has gone on to win eight major trophies while playing for some of the biggest clubs in both Africa and Europe.
Erasmus has been a free agent since leaving Orlando Pirates when his contract expired in June and while he mulls over the next phase of his career, the veteran attacker collaborated with Three Ships Whiskey to share what's inspired him over the course of his football journey.
The SuperSport United academy graduate, who's scored over 50 goals in more than 200 South African top flight appearances, is featured in Three Ships Whiskey's #ExceptionalIsHere campaign.
In the campaign video shared on Instagram, the 34-year-old explained what has shaped his character as a baller. "While my bravery in football comes from playing at grassroot level on the streets, growing up, you had to think outside the box," noted Erasmus.
"Having a bit of trickery which is what we call Kasi Flavour in South African. It's helped to carry me through my career, even when I went abroad," he added.
The pint-sized forward enjoyed two seperate spells in Europe, having played in The Netherlands, Portugal, France and Sweden, representing clubs like Feyenoord, Stade Rennes, Lens, Vitoria Setubal and AFC Eskilstuna.
"Well, one of the challenges I've learned to push myself through was focusing beyond what I'm just doing on the field. To have that 2% or 3% extra edge over your opponent. There's always room for improvement, it's just about putting in the hard work, added the 20-capped ex-Bafana Bafana international.
