Ricardo Kaka will forever be remembered for his skilful touch, finesse on the ball and goalscoring ability, and this past weekend saw what was likely the last home game of his career. Did you see his teary farewell?
The Brazilian confirmed last week that he would play his final home game for Orlando City on Sunday, after he hinted at a possible retirement following his highly successful career.
He admitted to the media recently that playing gave him little satisfaction these days as his body struggled to keep up with the pace of the game: "I don't find enjoyment playing football anymore, I feel pain after every match. My body feels it and at the age of 35, it's hard to recuperate."
Kaka, who won everything one could in football, including the FIFA World Cup and the Ballon d'Or, turned out against Columbus Crew for the final time at the home ground in the purple Orlando City kit, and he was moved to tears during the US anthem.
During the game, which ended in a 1-0 loss for City, two young pitch invaders ran on to the field to meet their hero, and he warmly embraced them before kindly escorting them off the pitch.
Kaka hugging the most adorable pitch invaders you’ve ever seen is a pretty Kaka move.
