It seems that top clubs like Real Madrid, Chelsea and Manchester City may have discovered a new way to ensure victory in the UEFA Champions League. Can you guess what it is? Does it work?
Strikers score goals and defenders prevent them, that's football 101 right? Well, it seems as though the managers of some of Europe's top clubs have chucked the old rule book out and are using their defenders to rack up goals.
On Tuesday evening, Chelsea's new right back, Davide Zappacosta, lit up Stamford Bridge with a sensational long range strike that curved into the net, while City's centre half, John Stones, equalled Cristiano Ronaldo's tally for the evening with an impressive two goals to fire the Blues to victory.
Over at Santiago Bernabeu, Sergio Ramos' athletic overhead kick followed Ronaldo's brace, making it 3-0 to the title holders.
Seems like other clubs will have to implement some new training routines for their defence if they have any hopes of keeping up with these three.
Which defender was more impressive - Zappacosta, Ramos or Stones?
