What's the story?

Hendrick Pule Ekstein is using his off-season break to make a difference after paying a visit to a primary school in the Bekkersdal township to make some donations.

Ekstein donated a set of school shoes to learners in need and shared heartbreaking images of what they had to wear to school prior to the baller's kind gesture.

Let's take a closer look at Ekstein's charitable efforts...

Ekstein donates school shoes

Ex-Kaizer Chiefs wonderkid Hendrick Ekstein visited his home town of Bekkersdal, where he's highly revered for his achievements in football, to visit the Maputle Public School.

Ekstein arrived at Maputle with boxes of shoes to donate to a group of learners, who were forced to wear unsuitable footwear such as crocs, Ugg's and worn-out sneakers to school.

The Usuthu star came through with at least three large boxes of Toughess school shoes, a staple among South African learners, and restored some bright smiles and hope among the youngsters.

It's not the first time Ekstein has made a difference in his hometown. In June last year, he donated school shoes to the learners at Isiqalo Primary School.
