Plying your trade in the elite league not only makes you famous but also puts your surname in the spotlight. Today, the Fan Park crew has compiled a list of the more famous surnames in the PSL.
Mokoena
The name Mokoena is synonymous with football. Naughty, Teboho, Lebohang and Aaron Mokoena are some of the players who have put the Mokoena name on the map. With 'Mbazo' having plied his trade in Holland and in England - the Mokoena name is also well known abroad.
Zwane
A lot of the Mangethe's – the clan name for Zwane - have graced South African fields. Amongst the retired Zwane's we can mention former Orlando Pirates star, Eugene Zwane, former SuperSport United left-back, Mandla Zwane and the erstwhile Kaizer Chiefs pair of Arthur ' 10111' Zwane and the late Martin Zwane. Mamelodi Sundowns currently have two Zwane's in their squad in Themba and Siyanda Zwane.
Modise
Teko Modise has achieved a lot in the local game but there was also another great Modise who played for Cape Town Spurs and Kaizer Chiefs in the 90's by the name of David Modise. The Modise's have also produced a great female footballer in Portia Modise, the first African to grab a century of goals for a national team.
Mahlangu
How can we forget about this one? Most recently May Mahlangu made the headlines for being suspended from the Bafana Bafana team, while Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates also had the famous Jabu Mahlangu grace the field of play.
Isaacs
There are currently three Isaacs playing in the Absa Premiership right now. With two currently plying their trade at Ajax Cape Town, Dominic Isaacs and Erwin Isaacs are considered the veterans in the team. Completing the Isaacs trio is that of Rudi Isaacs, who currently forms part of Moroka Swallows' leaky backline. Funnily enough, all three Isaacs are originally from Cape Town.
