AFCON's quirky names
Football fans have been spoilt with goals, drama, humour and plenty of upsets at this year's AFCON in the Ivory Coast.
The tournament is heading into the knockout stages and is set to serve up some box office-level football for us to enjoy and remember for years to come.
Another memorable aspect of this AFCON has been some of the interesting names from at least five players. One name that will haunt the The Gambia is Cameroon's Christopher Wooh.
The Stade Rennes star broke Gambian hearts with a stoppage time winner to see the Indomitable Lions win 3-2 and progress to the Round of 16, where they will face the Super Eagles of Nigeria.
One would hope Wooh is a big fan of Halloween and milks his surname on the spooky October Holiday!
Zambian forward Fashion Sakala Jr is another with a memorable name. It's either his parents really liked fashion/style or they just opted for a name no one would forget, either way, we love it!
Guinea-Bissau forward Jose Correira Turbo, known as 'Zé Turbo' arguably has the coolest surname we've seen at this edition of AFCON.
The baller has a strong shot and plenty of pace to burn, fitting for someone with the last name "Turbo."
Mozambiquan defender Infren Matola had his nickname 'Nanana' at the back of his jersey, pure vibes! Makes you wonder if his name is music related or if it's a childhood name that stuck.
Another nickname that made waves at AFCON is Mauritania forward Aboubakar Kamara, who had his nickname 'AK47' on his country's team sheet for their opener against Burkina Faso.
The former Fulham gunman is yet to fire at this year's AFCON, but will hope to shoot down the Cape Verde defense in the next round to continue a historic campaign for Al-Murabitun.
