PSL Coaching Changes: Could Hunt Be Lined Up?

PSL Coaching Changes: Could Hunt Be Lined Up?

Gavin Hunt may not be without a club for long following his recent departure from SuperSport United, with strong indications that the experienced coach is being considered for a role at Cape Town City.

Hunt, a four-time PSL-winning coach, has an impressive track record in South African football, having previously managed clubs such as Kaizer Chiefs and Bidvest Wits.

His vast experience and tactical acumen make him a sought-after figure in the local football scene.

City are expected to make changes to their technical team at the end of the season, and sources suggest Hunt's name has been mentioned among potential candidates for a role at the club.

The Citizens are currently under the guidance of caretaker coach Diogo Peral, who is assisted by the experienced Roger de Sa.

This interim arrangement followed the departure of veteran coach Muhsin Ertugral, who initially joined in January as a Technical Director and interim head coach before his tenure was cut short due to disappointing results.

While reports indicate that Dutch coach Andries Ulderink is a strong candidate to take over as head coach next season, there are indications that the Western Cape outfit may be looking to build a formidable technical team.

Hunt's expertise could be an asset in a restructuring process aimed at stabilising and improving the team's performance.

Furthermore, with the club still searching for a new Technical Director, Hunt's experience in both coaching and football administration could position him as an ideal candidate for a senior role within the club's setup.

As Cape Town City continues its rebuilding phase, the coming weeks could bring clarity on Hunt's next destination.

Given his reputation and achievements, it would not be surprising to see him return to the PSL in a key role sooner rather than later.
