According to sources, the move will depend on Magesi's status in the Betway Premiership and their overall situation at the end of the season.

"Magesi FC are sure they will be in the PSL next season and that's when they will renegotiate for Bongani Sam to be signed. That's their plan at the moment. Though they could not sign him in January they are still holding hopes that they could sign him in the next transfer window. So, it's not like that deal is completely out of the question. They are still set to sign him though it will depend on whether they are still in the PSL or not. That will be the main deciding factor as things stand now," the insider told the Siya crew.

A second Siya source mentioned that while Sam was initially considered for a loan in January, it is still undecided whether Magesi will select a loan option instead of a permanent deal in the off-season. Another factor would be Chiefs' intentions.

"For now it's not clear whether they would sign him on loan or permanently because they will first find out whether they are still in the PSL or not and whether Chiefs are ready to sell him permanently as well. So, for now the most important thing is that the deal is still possibly on and the logistics will be looked at in the right time," the second source revealed.

Sam joined Chiefs from Orlando Pirates at the start of the current season in an unexpected move. The 27-year-old former Bloemfontein Celtic defender has yet to make an official appearance for the Glamour Boys, but he has been called up by Bafana Bafana assistant coach Helman Mkhalele to the CHAN South Africa squad for matches against Egypt on February 28 and March 9.

Soccer Laduma reached out to Magesi FC for comment, but there was no response at the time of publication.
