Wydad's Chiefs 'Still Convinced' By Rulani

Wydad's Chiefs 'Still Convinced' By Rulani

Wydad Athletic Club's board of directors is reportedly still confident in Rulani Mokwena as the club's head coach.

Despite Wydad Athletic Club currently being in fifth place on the log, the club's chiefs are reportedly still confident in Rulani Mokwena.

This past weekend, the Red Castle were only able to leave the Stade Municipal Berrechid with one point after they drew 1-1 with Hassania d'Agadir.

The result now leaves the north African juggernauts in fifth position in the Botola Pro Inwi standings going into the next international break.

There has been a tremendous amount of expectation placed on the South African tactician's shoulders following his arrival, after Wydad suffered their worst league finish in a decade last season.

So far, the 37-year-old has struggled to find consistency with his new side in the league, winning two matches, drawing another two and losing once.

While the record Moroccan champions may be in fifth position, though, they are only one point off the summit of the table.

Inconsistency has led to another Moroccan juggernaut in Raja Club Athletic already dismissing the manager they started the campaign with, with Rusmir Cviko no longer taking charge of the Green Eagles, but according to WinWin, Mokwena is not poised to suffer the same fate as the Bosnian any time soon.

The same report claims that Wydad chiefs want the Johannesburg native to stay at Casablanca until the end of the season as they remain confident in his abilities to help the club return to the top of domestic football.

The side's board of directors also have the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup in mind, and presumably want as much continuity heading to the global showpiece next year as possible.
