Pep Reacts To Man City Star's Comments On Future

Pep Guardiola has reacted to a Manchester City player publicly saying he is considering his future at the club.

In recent comments made on international duty with Argentina's U23 team at the 2024 Olympic Games, Julian Alvarez admitted he is thinking about his next steps in Manchester.

While the 24-year-old made 54 appearances across all competitions last season, he was brought off the bench on 15 occasions and substituted off 20 times, and is seeking a more stable role at club level.

Alvarez said part of his reasoning for needing to think about his future was being left out of "important matches" after he started just two UEFA Champions League games last season.

Responding to the 2022 FIFA World Cup and 2024 Copa America champion's remarks, Guardiola acknowledged that all of his players want to participate in big games.

"He said he'd think about it. When he finished thinking about it, his agent is going to call Txiki and we see what happens," he said, according to Manchester Evening News.

"I know he wants to play important moments, yeah. But the other ones (do) too. 18, 19 players as well want to play the big games. I read he wants to think about it. Okay, think about it and after that he will inform us what he wants to do.

"He plays a lot, he wants more? That's fine. That why, think about it. When he thinks about it, he'll inform us."
