Chelsea 'Ready' To Pay Club-Record Fee For Star

Chelsea 'Ready' To Pay Club-Record Fee For Star

Chelsea are reportedly prepared to break their club-record transfer fee for the fourth time in three years in order to sign a certain forward.

Chelsea are reportedly willing to break their club transfer record yet again for the services of a star striker.

The Blues have not been prolific in the Premier League this season. Mauricio Pochettino's men have managed to score only 17 goals all season long, seemingly to their new Argentine manager's frustration.

The west Londoners have created lots of chances in games, and bought Senegalese marksman Nicolas Jackson during the off-season for €37 million (R727 million) from Villarreal to potentially finish them off, but so far, the 22-year-old has struggled to find any semblance of form.

It is because of this, according to TEAMtalk, that the English giants are looking to turn to another west African in Victor Osimhen to become the club's new star striker.

There is growing uncertainty surrounding the Nigerian's future at Napoli, and Chelsea are believed to be eager to pounce on the situation in Naples.

The Super Eagle scored 31 goals across all competitions last season, form that the two-time European champions will be hoping he would replicate should he successfully make his way to Stamford Bridge.

In the past, Osimhen has spoken of his desire to one day ply his trade in the English top flight, and Chelsea reportedly want to make that dream a reality by paying a club record €150 million (R2.9 billion) for the attacker.

It is unlikely that Gli Azzurri will let their talisman walk away from the club during the season, so the Blues are likely going to have to wait until the end of the campaign in order to land their man.

There is a strong possibility the six-time English champions will face stiff competition from other European giants for Osimhen, with the likes of Real Madrid and Arsenal are also believed to be keen to sign the pacey attacker.
