After going close to leaving Los Blancos at the end of last season, the ex-Tottenham Hotspur midfielder extended his deal in Spain for a further year.
Modric, however, has found regular game time difficult to find since the 2023/24 campaign got underway, with new signing Jude Bellingham having quickly become an important figure in the dressing room.
While head coach Carlo Ancelotti has insisted there are no problems between himself and the Croatian, Mundo Deportivo claims the midfielder is beginning to feel "very upset" with his reduced role.
Despite featuring in 10 matches across all competitions so far this season, Modric has only been selected from the start on three occasions amid reports Lionel Messi is keen for his former rival to join him at Inter Miami in the United States.
Modric has previously been linked with a big-money move to Saudi Arabia, and it remains to be seen where the five-time UEFA Champions League winner is interested in taking his career when his contract expires.
