Coach Carlo Ancelotti made two changes from last week's win over Celta Vigo as Luka Modric replaced Federico Valverde in midfield, while Joselu makes his first start of the season in place of the injured Vinicius Junior.

The visitors took the lead after 11 minutes as former Los Blancos striker Borja Mayoral, who intercepted a pass from Fran Garcia before slotting past goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga.

Los Blancos thought they had won a penalty after Jude Bellingham went down in the area from apparent challenge from Carlos Alena. However, after Video Assistant Referee (VAR) review, the referee changed his initial decision.

The hosts went close to pulling themselves level ten minutes before the halftime break when Modric met a cross from Garcia before seeing his header tipped over the crossbar by goalkeeper David Soria.

Madrid needed just two minutes to get back on level terms when Joselu opened his account for the season after getting on the end of Modric's cross before firing past Soria.

The second nearly arrived for the hosts on 54 minutes when second-half substitute Toni Kroos was given time and space to pick his spot before rattling the upright with a powerful strike.

Ancelotti responded with a double change after that as Daniel Carvajal and Modric made way for Lucas Vazquez and Brahim Diaz as they pushed for a winning goal in the final 15 minutes.

With the game seemingly headed for a draw, Bellingham saved the day with a close-range finish after Soria could not hold onto Vazquez shot, sealing a fourth straight win for Los Blancos.
