The Spaniard's second full season in charge has been one of contrasts, with the team having battled in Europe while dominating in LaLiga.

Barca find themselves nine points clear of fierce rivals Real Madrid on the league table after they beat Valencia on the weekend and Los Blancos draw 0-0 with Real Betis.

Although the Blaugrana's financial issues could see them battle to bring new faces in at the end of the season, Xavi is said to be interested in a number of players from the Citizens.

According to the Daily Mirror, Ilkay Gundogan has emerged as an option for the Catalan giants, as has Aymeric Laporte, whom Pep Guardiola is believed to be prepared to sell.

Holding midfielder Rodri is another City player reportedly being looked at by the former Spain international, along with Bernardo Silva and Julian Alvarez.

As per recent reports, Alvarez has been frustrated with his lack of starts since his arrival from River Plate at the start of the campaign and could seek to leave on loan.

LaLiga president Javier Tebas, however, could be an obstacle for Barcelona after he recently said the club will not be allowed to sign players if they do not reduce their wage bill.
