African Billionaire Linked To £90m Takeover Of English Club

Sheffield United

An African billionaire is reportedly close to completing a takeover of £90 million (R1.9 billion) for an English club.

EPL Giants To Receive Sponsorship Worth Close To R1 Billion From South African Government?

According to The Times, English Championship side Sheffield United is not far from being taken over by an unnamed African investor in a deal believed to be worth £90 million.

The club has battled since being hit by a transfer embargo last month after reportedly struggling to "keep up on payments" to Liverpool over the signing of Rhian Brewster in 2020.

The publication claims the billionaire businessman's identify has been kept a secret, and that no issues have been raised amid the potential buyer's EFL owners and directors' test.

Sheffield United's ban from signing players for the next 18 months will reportedly be rescinded should the club win promotion to the Premier League.

The team is currently second on the table, 12 points clear of third-placed Middlesbrough with a game in hand, with Burnley leading the way in England's second tier.
