Chiefs’ Decision On Zwane Slammed

Kaizer Chiefs' decision on Arthur Zwane has been slammed by the club's former midfielder and crowd favourite Junior Khanye.

Zwane has become increasingly under pressure as the team has moved down to 14th place on the DStv Premiership log after seven rounds of fixtures into the new season.

Amakhosi have won only two matches and have already lost three, going into Saturday's fixture against their former coach Gavin Hunt's resurgent SuperSport United.

Chiefs have collected eight points out of a possible 21 and pressure is mounting on Zwane to lead the team to a better position in competing for the title with rivals Mamelodi Sundowns, Orlando Pirates and others.

"South African football fans had a serious go at me when I spoke about Arthur Zwane's appointment after it was announced by Kaizer Chiefs. Chiefs' appointment of Zwane was a big mistake. This is a club that has gone for seven years without winning a trophy and I didn't understand the appointment of Zwane and hoping that he would be the right coach to turn things around for the team," said Khanye.

"This is a club that has had seasoned coaches like Gavin Hunt and Stuart Baxter in charge recently but they failed to get the results and trophies for Chiefs. The expectations at Chiefs are very high and the club needs to go back to the drawing board again and work on getting things right. Arthur coached for several seasons in the youth ranks at Chiefs and credit to him that some of the exciting young talents over the years have been produced by the club and some of them are stars in the first team right now but that does not mean he can succeed at senior level. To answer your question, Arthur is failing just like I predicted and it's a pity that people swore at me when I said it," Khanye added.
