Khosi Nation Calls For More Quality, Less Quantity...

As the season grinds out to a close, the Khosi Nation will begin conducting a postmortem analysis into the corpse of the season just experienced. Where did it all go pear-shaped? That's the second most important question heading into the new season. The most important question is: how can things be fixed?

The most glaring way to fix the issue is by buying new players. The supporters have called for the acquisition of new forwards, in particular. This is as a result of the alarming statistic that no Chiefs striker has scored more than six goals this season, with their main hitman, Calmadine Abraw, only notching up a miserable four strikes. What makes this even more alarming is Abraw has scored just one more goal than center back Erick Mathoho...

So the rumblings suggest that Chiefs are going shopping. There have been a number of rumours, and the latest is that Amakhosi are showing interest in Zambian striker Lewis Macha. Here's what the supporters think of that idea:

"Sign him if he's good, it's obvious we don't have strikers in SA." – Thokozanim

"My team is turning into Foreigners FC. Proof that the development programme is useless." – Wandambusi

"The club must do the right thing by signing him and releasing useless foreigners." – mbixane

"We want quality this time, we are sick and tired of quantity." – Terminator a.k.a Bullet

"Is it Komphela who wants these players, or is it management?" – amdunyelwa718

So, it seems the supporters have a number of concerns going into the new season: first, it appears South Africa have no strikers and Chiefs seem to be keen on doing the bulk of their shopping abroad.

Secondly, it does not say much for Chiefs' development programmes if new players have to constantly be imported.

Thirdly, the supporters are fed up with players coming to Naturena and making up the numbers and dusting the bench, but never making a quality impact on the field.

And, finally, who is it that is pulling the strings at Naturena? Does the coach choose the players he wants to work with or are they chosen for him?

What do you think? Do you feel that Chiefs' transfer policy respects you as a supporter? What does it say if Amakhosi are only interested in buying foreigners? What should be done with those players who are surplus to requirements?
