If Chelsea do decide to sack Jose Mourinho, there are a number of possible candidates who could be in line to take up the reigns.
One of the biggest names linked with the club is Pep Guardiola, and the Spaniard's appointment would surely feel like a punch to the face for Mourinho. Guardiola is one of the Portuguese tactician's biggest rivals, so he definitely wouldn’t enjoy seeing him taking over his Blues project.
However, the Bayern Munich mentor might only be available after the current campaign, when his contract runs out, so Chelsea's bosses could look for an interim solution if Mourinho fails to deliver.
Guus Hiddink has been mentioned as a possible name for a short-term stint – he has already acted as interim manager of the Blues, in 2009, when he lost only one of 22 matches.
Carlo Ancelotti followed Hiddink that year and he is also in the mix for the Mourinho job. The Italian is currently on a sabbatical and indicated he only wants to return to coaching next season.
The former Real Madrid boss recently backed Mourinho to turn things around, but also hinted he would be interested in coaching in England.
Atletico Madrid's Diego Simeone and Paris Saint-Germain's Laurent Blanc seem to have secure jobs, but have also been mentioned as possible candidates.
Who do you think should replace Mourinho? Or do you think he will turn things around?
