The 25-year-old has endured a frustrating time in the French capital in recent weeks. While he has played a massive part in helping Paris Saint-Germain reach the quarter-finals of the UEFA Champions League and the final of the Coupe de France, his role for Les Parisiens in Ligue 1 is diminishing.
His substitution last weekend, in the latest Le Classique against Olympique Marseille, saw him leave the pitch visibly frustrated as it was the fifth time in the past six league matches where he did not play the entire 90 minutes.
The reason for this is likely to be the fact that he has, earlier this season, informed the PSG hierarchy of his decision to not renew with the club upon the expiry of his existing contract at the end of the season.
Mbappe is expected to sign with Los Blancos, but it is believed the Bondy native wants his future to be sorted out as soon as possible.
How far both the French and Spanish juggernauts make it in the Champions League will reportedly be the defining factor as to how soon Mbappe can be announced as Los Merengues' newest Galactico.
According to Marca, however, the France captain has told the record European champions to confirm his signing before he leads his national team at the 2024 UEFA European Championship in Germany, which will kick off in June.
