Mamelodi Sundowns have provided an update on Thapelo Morena, who suffered a gruesome-looking ankle injury in the Nedbank Cup on Saturday.

Sundowns' 1-0 win over SuperSport in round of 32 was overshadowed by gruesome looking ankle injury sustained by Morena in the second half, although the attacker was not rushed to the hospital despite being stretchered off.
The Absa Premiership champions have now confirmed the 26-year-old will undergo surgery on his ankle.

He has sustained a fracture as well as ligament damage on his right ankle. He is due for an operation today.

Man of the Match, Andile Jali, was saddened by the injury suffered by his Sundowns teammate.
"Our goal came from him so he gave a good assist. We know him with the speed so he used his speed and crossed the ball," he told SuperSport.
"So when you see something like this to our own players it's not easy for us to take but we have to accept it and say sorry to him. But the leg is gone and it's painful,"
