Wits have confirmed that their U19 squad will jet out to Europe in July to take part in the annual Lyngby Cup. The tournament will see Wits' youngsters come up against some top junior European sides from that region from July 22 until early August.
The young Clever Boys enjoy a strong relationship with Brondby and were once again invited to take part in the two-week long spectacle in Denmark.
Wits Academy Head, Glen Salmon, explained what the club hoped to achieve from the trip in just under two months time. He told the Siya crew, "We're flying out to Denmark on 22 July. Everything is booked and organized. We'll maintain the good relationship we have with Brondy. It's an exciting time. Brondby have a new technical director of football and he's excited about working with us. We're all positive about the relationship we have."
The Clever Boys junior sides have been doing well in recent times - the U17 team won the Safa National Championships earlier this year, while the U19 team reached the quarterfinals of Bayhill Tournament as well. The emergence of the very promising teenage talent, Liam Jordan, is another sign the club are on the right path in terms of youth development.
The crew will monitor the team's progress in Denmark when the tour eventually gets underway.
