As Bloemfontein Celtic returned to training this week, the club has provided an update on former Bafana forward Tokelo Rantie, who was looking to land a deal with the club before the COVID-19 break.
Rantie spent weeks training with Celtic, where he managed to impress now-departed coach Lehlohonolo Seema and his technical team with his abilities and work-rate, the Siya crew were reliably informed.
Unfortunately for Celtic and the ex-Bournemouth striker, the breakout of the COVID-19 pandemic brought an abrupt halt to his assessment at the Free State club. With Absa Premiership clubs prohibited from training it meant that his chances of convincing the club that he is worthy of a contract took a knock.
Speaking to the Siya crew, Celtic spokesperson Sello Nduna provided an update on the player's situation at the club.
"We are currently back in training but not in full force and by that I mean not with all the players because we are still training in small groups for this week.
"Tokelo Rantie is back training with the rest of the guys. In fact, he is continuing with training because Tokelo trained with us up until the last day before lockdown," Nduna explained.
