Former striker, Sandile Ndlovu, has explained how Chippa United convinced him to come out of retirement.
The ex-Mamelodi Sundowns forward had been signed by the Chilli Boys in January 2012 as the Cape Town-based club at the time was chasing its first promotion to the topflight in 2012.
"I had already retired when Chippa called and signed me. I had already decided that I was done with professional football. I was lucky when they called me to play for them in the NFD before the team was promoted to the topflight," Ndlovu told the Siya crew.
"I spoke to Professor Ngubane about it and I went to join the team in Cape Town. From Chippa, I stayed for a long time again without playing – it must have been close to two years – before I was then called by Roses United. I had not even been training during that time and I was fat. You know in Bloemfontein it can be very hot sometimes and that helped me in my training programme to lose some weight. But all in all I enjoyed my football career and I don't have any regrets," the 40-year-old added.
