Rode, 27, spent some time training with Mpumalanga Black Aces last season after leaving Skonto FC in his homeland, however, Muhsin Ertugral decided against signing him but admitted that he may bring him back for the 2016/17 campaign.
Since then Aces have been renamed and relocated, while Ertugral has joined Orlando Pirates, however, it appears that the Latvian will still get his chance to impress in the Absa Premiership.
Having failed to help SK Sigma Olomouc avoid relegation from the Czech Premier League last season, Rode is now on the lookout for a new club and the Siya crew has been informed that he is set to find one in the Western Cape.
Meanwhile, former AmaZulu defender, Robynn Johannes, is also training with City as they look to bolster their central defence ahead of the new season.
