In anticipation of this week’s 1438th edition of Soccer Laduma, we preview some of the features and interviews included. The latest edition will be available at your nearest outlet on Thursday, 21st August 2025.
KAIZER CHIEFS
After just two Betway Premiership matches, Kaizer Chiefs defender Aden McCarthy has already received two Man of the Match awards. Amakhosi have kept clean sheets in both fixtures and the 21-year-old youngster, the son of Chiefs’ defensive stalwart, Fabian McCarthy, gave two mature displays. For coach Nasreddine Nabi and his technical team, it would have been very easy to instead select a more experienced option at the back to start the season. Their faith in McCarthy has paid off with the results and improved defensive record thus far. Can the left-footer emulate his father and play 150+ matches in the famous Gold and Black jersey? We look at his outings in the Amakhosi shirt so far, assess areas for improvement and ask whether he is destined to return to the bench when other defenders are back from injury.
ORLANDO PIRATES
The late former Orlando Pirates Brand Manager, Zodwa Khoza, would’ve celebrated her 50th birthday on Tuesday. With August being known as the Women’s Month in South Africa, Soccer Laduma editor Vuyani Joni caught up with some of those who knew Dr Irvin Khoza’s daughter in celebration of her legacy and remembrance.
SIYA SPECIAL
Thapelo Maseko was one of South Africa’s most promising players not so long ago, but his career has gone backwards in the last year and a half at Mamelodi Sundowns. A move to Europe was offered before he joined Sundowns. Now, the player is looking for a way out but is in a race against time to secure a deal before the transfer window closes in a few weeks.

Devin Titus
Devin Titus has quietly grown from a Stellenbosch FA Academy hopeful into one of the club’s most important players and one of the Betway Premiership’s most consistent performers. Still only in his early 20s, the winger has close to 100 appearances and back-to-back double-digit goal returns to his name. With senior teammates moving on, Titus suddenly finds himself among the leaders in a youthful yet ambitious Stellies squad. In this exclusive interview with Soccer Laduma, Titus reflects on his evolving role as both mentee and mentor, the culture that makes Stellies unique, and the heartbreak of losing teammates while celebrating their progress. He also speaks about his bond with coach Steve Barker, the club’s growing hunger for silverware at home and abroad, and his burning ambition to break into Bafana Bafana.
International Feature
South African football stars are no longer content with keeping their talents confined to the boundaries of South Africa. While many still choose to ply their trade in the Betway Premiership, a host of top talents have looked outside the country to continue their football development, including several Bafana Bafana internationals. Soccer Laduma looks at the growing trend of South African football players who have recently moved abroad, with expert views from youth development expert Farouk Khan.
Revolving Column
This week we hear from former striker Thulasizwe Mbuyane on Bafana Bafana’s CHAN performance.
Siyagobhoza
In this week’s edition of the popular Siyagobhoza section, there is news on Olisa Ndah’s future, Samkelo Zwane encouraged to fight at Kaizer Chiefs and Siphelo Baloni’s career on hold after injury setback.
