Middlesbrough netted in stoppage time to earn a point at Manchester City, as the two sides played out a 1-1 draw at the Etihad.
City were enjoying possession in the opening exchanges of the game, building from the back and in no hurry.
City's inter-change passing couldn't open the defence of Middlesbrough until in the 24th minute when Aleksander Kolarov found himself enough space to angle a wonder strike but he saw his shot brilliantly contained by Victor Valdes.
Kevin De Bruyne surged into the penalty box in a follow up as Man City applied the pressure. He got hold of the ball but unfortunately dragged his shot narrowly wide of the far upright from a tight angle.
Man City eventually found the breakthrough in the 43rd minute.
Sergio Aguero opened the scoring with a close range finish. De Bruyne was the architect, running down the right wing and then sending a sensational, curling it into a teasing area, where the Argentine was on hand to score.
The match went into the half-time break with Man City in lead with a solitary goal to Middlesbrough's none.
Ten minutes into the restart Middlesbrough were better. They were looking fairly comfortable, as City were unable to exert the same kind of control as they did in the first half.
City nearly made it 2-0 in the 68th minute with almost a similar move to the one that produced the first goal, with De Bruyne and Aguero combining again. De Bruyne sent in a delightful cross again into the the penalty area but this time the striker's glancing header went a bit over the bar.
The game was slowing up a bit and Middlesbrough were creating chances of their own as Man City were getting opportunities to hit on counter-attacks.
Boro found the equaliser in the dying minutes of the game. as Marten de Roon found the back of the net with a powerful header.
