Orlando Pirates have now officially succumbed to their worst ever start to an Absa Premiership campaign, picking up just five points from six games.

The Buccaneers were beaten 2-0 by Golden Arrows last night, a result that was coincidentally Abafana Bes’thende’s first victory over Pirates since 2008. Arrows have actually lost the 12 clashes with Pirates previous to yesterday evening.
Eric Tinkler’s side have only managed to win one of their opening seven games in 2015/16 so far, winning only five points from a possible 15, and are currently 13th in the league, one point above the relegation zone.
While game-by-game records pre-PSL are hard to come by, this start to the season is now the club’s worst ever start since the league was formed in its current format in 1996.
Their only run in recent years that started similarly poorly was the 2008/09 season when they picked up five points from their first five games under Ruud Krol, however after seven matches they had nine points.
The Ghost were not happy after last night’s result, calling for Tinkler’s head, however it is thought that he will be given until at least the CAF Confederation Cup final to turn around the club’s league form.
Pirates now face Kaizer Chiefs in two Soweto Derbies over the next two weekends, and Tinkler will need to get results in both if he is to get the fans off his back.
