As predicted by Soccer-Laduma earlier this month, University of Pretoria’s on-loan striker, Mame Niang, is on the verge of penning a new deal with his mother club, SuperSport United.
The Senegalese striker spent this season with Tuks, after being deemed surplus to requirements with Matsatsantsa, however his fine form for Steve Barker’s side has persuaded them to make a U-turn.
According to a Siya crew source, Niang will more than likely return to SuperSport next season following his 10-goal haul for Tuks.
The 29-year-old will be looking for a more successful second bite of the cherry at SuperSport, although with Gavin Hunt’s future in doubt, it remains to be seen who will be his head coach, should he return.
There were a number of clubs monitoring the striker’s situation, with Moroka Swallows and Bloemfontein Celtic both said to have been keen, however it seems that they will now have to look elsewhere for a striker.
Niang's deal with SuperSport is set to expire next month, although he is now likely to sign a new deal with the defending Nedbank Cup champions.
