As predicted by the Soccer-Laduma website yesterday (14 October), Clinton Larsen has been named as the new coach of Maritzburg United. The former Bloemfontein Celtic coach takes over from Ernst Middendorp who has since taken charge of Siwelele.
The news of Larsen's appointment was confirmed on the club's official Twitter account earlier this afternoon. It stated, "Clinton Larsen is officially unveiled here as the new head coach of Maritzburg United."
Larsen had spent three years with Celtic where he kept them in the top eight and also lifted the Telkom Knockout last season.
He faces a big challenge at Maritzburg with the team having had a mixed start to their campaign, and they are currently ninth place with eight points from six games. An ongoing injury crisis will also be a hurdle he arguably needs to overcome.
