West Brom doubled their lead in the 15th minute as Salomon Rondon held the ball up well before picking out James Morrison, who placed the ball into the bottom corner from the edge of the box.
The Baggies continued to dominate and bagged their third goal in the 37th minute when Philips floated a cross to the far post, where Darren Fletcher was on hand to tap home from six-yards out, 3-0.
Burnley, meanwhile, struggled in the final third and failed to force West Brom goalkeeper, Ben Foster into any saves in the opening 45 minutes.
The hosts netted their fourth goal in the 64th minute as Rondon collected a pass from Allan Nyom, before firing home via a deflection off Ben Mee.
Burnley created a couple efforts at goal after 75 minutes , although Johann Gudhmundsson went close with a free-kick that shaved the crossbar.
West Brom managed to see out the remaining stages of the half with relative ease to claim the win, which sees them move up to ninth in the table.
