FIFA World Cup Qualifier Report: Colombia 0-0 Chile 10 November 2016

FIFA World Cup Qualifier Result: Colombia 0-0 Chile Date: 10 November 2016 Venue: Estadio Metropolitano Roberto Meléndez Colombia moved into third position in the South American standings after their goalless draw with Chile in a World Cup qualifier on Thursday. The away side made the better start of the two sides, looking more positive, while the hosts seemed to suffer with a few nerves. The first real chance of the tie fell for the Chileans in the 17th minute. Great work on the right wing by Jose Fuenzalida resulted in him crossing for Arturo Vidal, who tried to place his shot into the far-bottom corner of the goal but sent it wide. There was a terrific chance to open the scoring at the other end in the 37th minute when a free kick picked out Orlando Berrio, but his headed effort on target was well saved by Claudio Bravo. In first-half stoppage-time, Colombia should have been ahead when Miguel Borja sent a header towards the bottom corner of the Chile goal following a free kick, but Bravo made a superb save. After the break the game lacked energy and saw few attacking opportunities from either side, with both seemingly more interested in avoiding defeat than winning. Chile were dealt a blow just past the hour mark when Bravo had to be replaced by Johnny Herrera after picking up an injury. A half-chance fell for Fuenzalida towards the end of the tie but his shot went wide of the far post and the game played out to a draw.
