Having signed a couple of their targets in this transfer window, Barcelona are now reportedly on the verge of losing two players to Chelsea.
Two New Signings Already Set To Leave Barca?
According to The Sun, Chelsea are keen on bringing Barca duo Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Frenkie de Jong to Stamford Bridge before the end of the transfer window.
The Blaugrana seem to still be navigating their way through their dire financial situation, and on the eve of the 2022/23 LaLiga season kicking off, the Catalan giants are still yet to register any of their new signings.
The five-time European champions are looking to offload more players in an effort to make new registrations possible, and Aubameyang and De Jong are at the forefront of those whose sales could help alleviate their financial burden.
While De Jong and the club would reportedly both like the Dutchman to stay at the Camp Nou, it is said they have insisted that the 25-year-old would need to take a massive pay cut to do so, something the midfielder is unwilling to do.
Here are 10 players still without a football club:
The former Ajax Amsterdam man is the club's highest-paid player, and the Barca hierarchy are not eager on continuing to pay him his current wages.
The Spanish giants are understood to have already agreed a transfer fee of £72 million (R1.4 billion) for De Jong with Manchester United, but Chelsea are now reportedly willing to match that offer.
The holding midfielder does not want to leave Spain, but is more open to moving to west London than Manchester should the situation in Catalonia persist.
The Blues are also reportedly eager on reinforcing their forward line with the acquisition of ex-Arsenal captain Aubameyang.
Real Clinch Record Fifth UEFA Super Cup
Eight months after leaving London, the former Gabon international could make a return to the English capital to reunite with his former Borussia Dortmund coach Thomas Tuchel at Stamford Bridge.
With Robert Lewandowski and Raphinha's arrivals at the Camp Nou, it is likely the 33-year-old would be getting limited game time this season.
Chelsea are also light in attack given that they have let Romelu Lukaku go out on loan to Inter Milan and recently sold Timo Werner back to RB Leipzig.
