A lot of optimism surrounded Luca Zidane's progress in Spain when he was called up to Real Madrid's first-team squad by his dad in 2019, but his rise has seemingly plateaued since his free-transfer exit from Los Blancos in 2020.
The 24-year-old goalkeeper was released by Rayo Vallecano at the end of June after making just 28 appearances in two seasons, and is yet to secure himself a new team for the 2022/23 campaign.
His former teammate in Spain's capital, Marcelo, is also yet to find a new club following his departure from the 14-time UEFA Champions League winners a few weeks ago.
Although perhaps past his best, the 34-year-old left-back might believe he still has a lot to offer at the highest level given his experience in the game. Marcelo left Real after 544 appearances across all competitions.
Juan Mata, Edinson Cavani and Diego Costa are among more experienced footballers still without new clubs for the current season, while Belgium international Adnan Januzaj also remains a free agent following his exit from Real Sociedad.
