Buthelezi: Chiefs Need To Score Goals
Chiefs were dumped out of the Telkom Knockout against Free State Stars after William Twala missed a penalty in a shootout that went to sudden death. However, the former Amakhosi goalkeeper says that they can't expect to win games unless their performances prove that they're worthy of it.
"Well, losing is part of the game. If you don't play well, you can't expect to win," he told Soccer Laduma. "It was not a good performance, totally not good and, to be honest, even if Chiefs won yesterday, I wouldn't see them going to the final."
Magents Names His Combined Chiefs Pirates XI
When asked to explain his thoughts, the 69-year-old said that the team doesn't approach the game properly.
"You could see that there was no urgency, there was nothing. For me, (the new tactical setup) brought nothing and I think something needs to be done," he continued. "I don't know what it is, if it's the players, or what. Something is not well at Chiefs. If you look at them playing, they don't play football.
"They just go for the goal for the entire game, they just go and make two or three passes and then the ball is gone. I'll be watching the game, and what they think is that they can just make a pass and score goals. But how do you get a goal without playing?"
