Mamelodi Sundowns could be at risk of losing their instrumental centre-back partnership of Wayne Arendse and Thabo Nthethe on a free come the January transfer window.
Both of these senior players are currently in the final months of their contracts with Sundowns, and indications are that the both Arendse and Nthethe have not yet put pen to paper on a new deal at the club.
Despite the two players nearing the end of their careers, at 31 and 32-years of age respectively, Arendse and Nthethe have established themselves as head coach Pitso Mosimane's first-choice defensive partnership.

However, should the club opt against extending their stay at the Brazilians, Sundowns could risk losing these players on a free at the end of their contracts in June 2017, as they will be eligible to sign a pre-contract elsewhere during the upcoming January transfer window.
There is no doubt that these two players will not be short of interested suitors in the PSL, given their work ethic and experience. However, it remains to be seen whether Arendse at Nthethe will commit their future to the Chloorkop-based club.
As reported in the two previous editions of Soccer Laduma, the Siya crew contacted the club to enquire about Arendse and Nthethe's contract situations, but the club's Communication Co-ordinater Thulani Thuswa, was unable to submit an official comment from the club at the time.
