Two PSL Clubs Face Coaching Quandary For New Season

Two PSL Clubs Face Coaching Quandary For New Season

Jozef Vukusic and Dylan Kerr

At least two clubs in Mzansi's top-flight are in a coaching quandary at the moment, this despite the new season approaching.

The PSL confirmed this week that the 2019/20 Absa Premiership season has been scheduled to start on the weekend of 02/03 August 2019.

With clubs around the league signing players, while some are finalising their pre-season plans, Polokwane City and Black Leopards appear to be in a dilemma, as the two clubs are yet to have their coaches for the new season confirmed.

After leading Polokwane to fifth place finish on the log this past season, Jozef Vukusic announced his resignation from the club, while he was away in Slovakia with his family.

Dylan Kerr from Limpopo rivals Black Leopards did the same by vacating his coaching position at the club, after saving them from relegation.

However, sources close to Rise and Shine and Lidoda Duvha have indicated that both clubs do not seem to have accepted the coaches' resignations. It is understood that both clubs expect the coaches back to lead their respective teams for pre-season.

Meanwhile, Chippa United became the latest club in the Absa Premiership to confirm their coach for the new season, after the Eastern Cape club agreed on a new two-year deal with Clinton Larsen.

Earlier, Maritzburg United also confirmed having agreed on a new two-year deal with Eric Tinkler for him to be at the helm for the new season.

In other coaching news, NFD side TS Sporting has appointed Selaotse 'Sly' Mosala as the club's head coach, with former SA U20 coach Solly Luvhengo named his assistant, while ex-Mpumalanga Back Aces goalkeeper Nascent Nkhwashu is set to serve as the goalkeeper coach. The club has also appointed former Cape Town City media officer, Vusi Ntimane, as the football manager.

Elsewhere, former Black Leopards and Chippa United coach, Joel Masutha, has re-joined Royal Eagles as their new head coach, and is set to be assisted by Bafana Nhlapo and Sazi Ngubane.

Masutha finished the season coaching Maccabi FC.
