Mamelodi Sundowns are reportedly showing interest in SuperSport United's Aubrey Modiba to strengthen their squad for next season. Modiba's versatility resonates with head coach Pitso Mosimane's words that he does not like players who only play one position.
Fans have come out again accusing Mosimane of destroying competition in the PSL. But is it fair to say this? Soccer Laduma reader MaHlophe(N.W) thinks Mosimane does not need the player at his club:
"I don't think Pitso aims to weaken smaller teams but what he is doing is just senseless. You can't go around buying star players that you don't need, which is exactly what Sundowns are doing. Don't confuse it; it's not the same as Kaizer Chiefs or Orlando Pirates buying players to strengthen their squads. Sundowns buy players just because they can afford them."

Is it fair to criticise Sundowns' right to express interest in other players or sign them? At what point will Masandawana not be destroying competition by signing players in the hope of improving their squad?
Dehlengza is in defence of the Brazilians. The Soccer Laduma reader says if Mosimane truly wanted to weaken competition, he could weaken his most competitive title challengers:
"To those who say Pitso weakens the opposition teams, it is a big lie. If it's like that, then why can't he weaken teams like Pirates, Kaizer Chiefs and Bidvest Wits, who are always strong contenders for the league?"

The news of Sundowns' interest in Modiba was music to Chaledi's ears. The Soccer Laduma reader believes the player has a lot to offer to the club:
"He is the perfect Sundowns material. He is a hard worker and has the skill. [George] Lebese should go for good. Him [Modiba] and Mokoena will help us to win CAF Champions League."
